Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American TV journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up living in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began as a radio and TV reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). She was promoted to Washington general correspondent with NBC News two years later. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. and chief foreign affairs Correspondent for NBC News. Mitchell was a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. She served on an audience for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell's first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. She covered many notable stories such as arm control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
